Enjoying My Day

At this moment, I’m just enjoying my day.  I’ve spent the past week organizing my thoughts and my notes; hopefully, I’ll have some stuff for you to read soon.  My eyes are feeling kinda’ dry and itchy, so I’m going to go now.  Perhaps I’ll post again tomorrow.

Just Checking

Just checking to see that I can send regular posts too.  I’d be mighty upset if I couldn’t do that.  ;)

Rainy Day Update

Good Afternoon!

Today is a day most people would describe as miserable.  Me?  I enjoy rainy days.  I think of them as God taking the time to nurture growth.  I only wish it didn’t feel like winter right now.

Honest, I'm Not Lazy....

Good afternoon!
I know y’all think I’m slacking off, but it’s just a case of not being organized.  :(
Well at least I can say I’m glad that the writer’s strike is over, and did vote in the VA primaries back on the 12th.  I finally voted for a winning candidate. :)

Taking a Break.

birds chirp out gentle melodies against traffic's harsh symphony.

Good afternoon!

I’m taking a break from posting about books this week.  I’ll continue my quest to read 52 books in 52 weeks next week.  All business and no play, makes me very anxious.  ;)

Just Whiling Away Time.

Sirens wail in the distance.  Urgency drowned out by heavy traffic roar.

Good afternoon!

Just updating my blog.  and wondering how much longer I’ll have to wait for spring.

I think the whole coverage of 's death is messed up.  Let the man rest in peace.

Happy Holidays!

Good afternoon!

Just a quick post to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season!  Plus, it's quite obvious to me that one of my New Year Resolutions is to be better organiezed.  Pardon me while I take a moment to roll my eyes at myself.

I’m going to play it by ear, and see how much better I can be each week for the year.

Washing Your Hands In Public

Good Evening!

I watched the “Today Show” this morning, and I saw the segment about the value and importance of washing your hands after using the bathroom, especially a public bathroom.

The reporter’s comment about the duration of scrubbing your soapy hands should be as long as it takes to sing “Happy Birthday!’ got me to thinking about a post that I wrote featuring a website that encouraged people to report restaurants and other public businesses to the copyright holders of “Happy Birthday!” for allowing their patrons to sing the song without paying for a license to sing it.

My question is this, does this now mean if I hear someone singing “Happy Birthday” at my favorite restaurant, I now have to report that restaurant for copyright infringement because their patron was trying to keep their hand clean, and wasn’t smart enough to just “hum a few bars?”

Maybe everyone is better off reporting Britney Spears for not keeping her hands clean.

Chugging Along

Good Evening!

Just spending the day organizing my notes, and looking for new things to post.  I’m going to try to find more memes to add to my blog, but they don’t seem to be as popular as they used to be.  Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

So far, I’m enjoying the much cooler weather of fall, and the fall television season.  My favorite new shows are “Chuck,” “Journeyman,” and “Life.”  Unfortunately, I’ve haven’t had a chance to see “Bionic Woman” yet, but I hope to rectify that real soon.  Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Hopefully, by the time the new year rolls around, I’ll be more efficient with posting to my blog.  Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

We shall see. (ggg)Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

How Does One Define Art?

Who and what is an artist?  As far as I know, an artist is an unique individual who explores and communicates the environment within which she/he exists.

I choose the word ‘exists’ because most artists are mobile individuals, who try to capture and communicate the essence of their experience, their being, their truth.

The next question asks, ‘If an artist makes his/her living by selling/bartering their creations for money and/or foods and services, is their creation a peice of art, or is the creation a piece of the artist’s soul never to be reclaimed?’

If the answer is ‘true art can never be sold,’ then why buy it?  Why is there a need for ‘non-artists’ to buy, to purchase, to obtain that which cannot be sold at any price?

Or maybe the ‘real’ question is, ‘Do artists truly create art for the pleasure of others?  Or do they create art for the pleasure of themselves?’

What a Difference a Year Makes.

Today, I spent some time updating my blog and doing some routine maintenance, and I noticed last year this time I did alot of posting.  The three main topics I wrote about included the Barbara Bauer Literary Agency who created alot of furor over at Absolute Write by temporarily shutting them down.  As far as I can tell, Ms. Bauer, the owner of the Barbara Bauer Literary Agency, has finally convinced Wikipedia to remove its entry about her, and currently has a lawsuit out.  Unfortunately, I don’t know anymore than that, but I hope everything works out for the best.

I also devoted a lot of time and energy to following the the Triple Crown in Kentucky, Maryland, and New York.  Sadly, due to some unexpected changes in my life, I don’t think I’ll be able to follow the races like I want, but I did hear that Queen Elizabeth II had a good time, and a pretty hat.  :)  Congratulations to Street Sense, by the way.

Finally, I’m a little disappointed with myself that I didn’t post the things I found out about Cinco de Mayo, so I’ll try to publish them later this month instead... better late than never.

Happy, Happy, May, May

Good Evening!

I’m sad that I missed a chance to post about May Day.  That’s okay because there is always next year. :ggg:

Then there is a backlog of esoterica I’d like to post but haven’t which makes me what Arsenio Hall calls “a bad host...”, but I ain’t holding my hand out for a spanking.  ;)

Oh, well we shall see how much work I can get done this week.  :)

“When will the hurting stop?”

Oh-kay.  I look up my own blog to see how it looks before I start tampering with it again, and I notice that I’m telling everyone that this is a test blog for me.

*smacks self in the head for being careless, yet again*

Oh-kay.  This is not a test blog.  This is my official blog.  I guess I’m trying too hard to make the blogger beta work for me.  I am going to get this right even if it kills me.  :P

The good news is with the help of some really nifty sites that I will discuss later, I’ve finally figured out how to update my blog with minimal damage.

*mental note to self read and re-read post and the rest of blog **before** I hit the publish button. *
