August 7, 2006 post entitled: “Mary-Sue Litmus Test.” Originally this link explained what a “Mary Sue” is, and how it came to be.
When I start churning out fiction, I hope I don’t create any “Mary Sues” or any “Gary Stus.” Unless that is the whole point of the story. >:D

Here is a screen shot for an old link which I posted on my : “Mary-Sue Litmus Test” entry of this blog. I nabbed it from the Internet Wayback Machine. The title of this page was, “The Original Fiction Mary Sue Litmus Test.”
It gave a brief introduction about why you would want to check to see if you’ve created a Mary Sue character, and how to take the litmus test. After scoring your answers to the questions, your character could be:
- an “anti-sue” —the very antithesis of a Mary Sue.
- a “non-sue” —a well developed balanced person.
- a “borderline-sue” —cutting it close.
- a “mary-sue” —needs work to be believeable (paraphrase).
- an “uber-sue” —might not be salvageable (paraphrase).
- an “irredeemable-sue” —start over (paraphrase).
If memory serves, I chose to answer the questions using Anita Blake who is an “uber-sue” on the litmus test.

I notice that it has been a while since I last posted, and once again, I apologize for my tardiness. Although RL has a way with putting road-blocks in front of me, I am determined to keep writing here until it no longer possible for me to do so (which I’m sure will be not for quite some time).
Hopefully, making checklists will help me keep on track this year. :)
What Does it Mean to be Spiritual?

I’ve been studying my artist blogroll, and I’m amazed by the creative drive each artist has, especially those who take the time to create oil paintings. I love it when artists like robh (to be fair, he hasn’t posted any oil paintings in a while, but he does do them) or Michael Manley post their oil paintings which, to me, look and feel vivid, fresh and exciting. In fact, they make me feel like I want to try my hand at oil painting again. :)
Once I’ve completed my commitment to NaNoWriMo , we shall see. :)
One thing that most people don’t know about me is that I keep a personal journal (no this is not my personal journal), and I am always looking for ways to keep it new, fresh, and exciting so that it does not become a chore for me. This quest has led me to an article by Peggy Kurilla at www.fmwriters.com called, “On Keeping a Writer’s Journal.” And for the most part, I enjoyed reading it.
Ms. Kurilla describes four common journal-types that she feels will help writers improve their skills:
- A smörgåsbord journal where everything you find interesting is dumped.
- A project journal where you keep track of the development, the problems, and the successes of your writing project.
- A specific-area writing journal where you write about one specific topic (like gardening , the weather , or the semantics of html code ) each day and can be used later as a reference for specific descriptions that moves the plot of your story forward.
- A compost journal where you list your ideas for future stories.
As much as I relish Ms. Kurilla’s ideas about how writers can keep their creativity flowing, I’m disappointed that she chose to view her one sentence idea—“...a romantic suspense between a small-town sheriff and the big-city pagan who comes to live in his town.”—as a lesson on being specific. Without a doubt, it is very important to be as specific as possible when jotting down your notes and/or ideas, however; Ms. Kurilla’s one sentence idea, with its missing details, could have been an opportunity, on her part, to create new details about it. Then again who’s to say Ms. Kurilla hasn’t created new details about that one sentence idea.
In the end, it does not matter how Ms. Kurilla sees her one sentence idea, or even whether or not she has taken advantage of the opportunity to develop that idea further. What matters is that a writer’s journal gives you the space to save your ideas , and cultivate your imagination.

I’d like to apologize for taking so long to post a reply. Long story short, I had not been able to get rid of the unwanted guest who spoofed my computer way back in April until a few weeks ago. A extremely frustrating experience I would not even wish on my worst enemy, and one I do not wish to repeat ever again.
So let’s try this again: It is my goal to post here on a regular basis, and make some changes to my blog, beginning with monetizing it. :) As you can see, I’ve changed its look, and layout.
If I don’t post some more later today, then most likely, I’ll post again later this week. Until then, have a happy autumnal equinox. :)

I'm sorry that I have not posted in a while, but unfortunately my computer was totally grokked by a hacker, and I'm only just now recovering some of what I lost. What I have lost because of this unfortunate event makes me want to scream with frustrations and rant with rage. :(
But fortunately the person(s) who did this aren't worth my time or effort. :p

Good morning!
It’s been a while since I last posted, and I feel a bit rusty about doing it to boot. :) As a result, I’m gonna take it slow until I can get back into the swing of things.
I’m so happy, I could scream: “Show me the panda!” I finally have my computer back! I'm finally able to surf 'n write as often as I like (or don't like).
Okay, I’m off to set up my writing schedule.
